US Open 2007: Rafael Nadal Reaches at Second Round

Spanish Tennis star Rafael Nadal started US Open 2007 with a struggling victory over Australian Alun Jones in a four set match. A few days back, Rafael Nadal injured in his knee while practicing. That is why, throughout the match, Nadal seemed to be an ordinary tennis player. Nadal won the first set by 7-5 but lost in the second by 3-6. At one point, things were going against Nadal when Alun Jones was ahead of Nadal by 4-3 during the third set. However, Nadal could at last won the last two sets by 6-4, 6-1. Now, fans of Nadal are in fear if he can continue in US Open 2007 with his knee injury.

Los Angles Times reported:
In fact, Nadal, who injured the knee three days ago practicing with Carlos Moya, said "Maybe if I'm in another tournament, I never go to the court today."
It was clear that this was Nadal-lite. He lacked his usual spirit, shanked more forehands than he probably does in an entire tournament and seemed to be playing on mute.
"I don't think he was at 100%," Jones said. "Only heard the grunt a few times."

Rafael Nadal is one of the most favorite in US Open 2007. To many, he is the only person at this moment who can stop Roger Federer. However, the Spaniard is really unfortunate that has fallen in a Grand Slam tournament. This year, the world has seen two Federer vs Nadal grand slam final Nadal won in French Open and Roger Federer in Wimbledon. Fans are hopeful to see third grand slam final between the world no.1 and world no.2. However, with the new of Rafael Nadal’s injury the fans are now disheartened. Nadal fans should pray for Nadal at this moment to become fit ahead of the second round match.
