Top Ten Spanish League (La Liga ) Footballers

Spanish La Liga has got the prestigious position among the domestic leagues of different countries and it has dominated in the Euro Champions Trophy many times and still doing its job very well. The present UEFA Champions team is also a Spanish club (FC Barcelona). In this perspective, this league has a great role in the club football. I tried to gather some information regarding 10 top players of the Spanish league. If any of you find anything wrong or something should have included please feel free to throw your opinion in the comment section.


Iker Casillas

Spanish Goalkeeper Casillas was born in Madrid in 1981. He started his career with Real Madrid and is still playing there. He got success in his debut year in Real Madrid in 1999 winning the UEFA Champions League. He won the FIFA World Youth Championship in 1999 with Spain youth team. Later on, he again won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid in 2001-02. His international debut was against Sweden in Euro 2000. He showed his talent in the 2002 World Cup where he saved 3 penalty shoots. He also played in the 2006 world cup. He is the first choice under the goal bar of both Spain and Real Madrid still today.


Roberto Carlos

Roberto Carlos is considered as world’s most famous left back player. This Brazilian star is famous for his trade mark free-kick and power shooting. Though he is a defender, he often goes up by overlapping and scored many times for Brazil and also for his club and as he has the skill of speed running, he can come back to his position in time. He became the runner-up in the Fifa World Player of the Year in 1997 world pool. In his club career, he has spent his golden time with Real Madrid and is still playing there. He joined to this club in 1996 ans has became club’s longest serving foreign player. He won Spanish each of the Spanish league and UEFA Champions league for three times with Real Madrid. He won the 2002 world cup and the 1998 world cup runner-up trophy with Brazil. Having played in the 2006 world cup he has gone for his retirement form the international football.


Raul Gonzalez

Raul is one of the prominent European strikers and has got success both with his international and domestic appearances. He started practicing with Atletico Madrid at the age of 13 but he had to come to Real Madird as Atletico stopped their youth program due to financial problem. He started his proifessional career with Real Madrid in 1994 when he was just 17 and he scored 11 goals in his first 6 games. He is now the captain of Real Madrid. He won four Spanish league and three UEFA Champions league for his club. He is the first player to have scored 50 goals in the UEFA Champions league. He became the top goal scorer for twice in Spanish league. His international debut was against Czech Republic in 1996. Though, he is not as successful in international career as he is in his club, he scored in three world cup and became the 18th footballer of having this record in the world. He has become his country’s tenth highest goal scorers and third highest goal scorers for his club. He was honored with the Royal Order’s gold medal for Sports merit in 2006.


Ronaldo

He is one of the greatest footballers of all time to many football analist. He is the highest goal scorers in the world cup history with 15 goals. Ronaldo started showing his talent when he was just a boy of 14. He started his professional career with the club Crizeiro EC in 1993-94 season. After playing in several leading clubs including PSV Eindhoven, FC Barcelona and Inter Milan he joined to his present club Real Madrid in2002. He won the Spanish league in 2003. In his international career he is more successful than his domestic career. He is known by his nickname ‘The Phenomenon’. His debut match was against their rival Argentian in 1994. He won world cup twice in 1994 and 2002. He was given the Spanish citizenship. He became Fifa Footballer of the year and European footballer of the year for thrise.


Lionel Messi

Messi is one of the top young players of the world at present. This potential player is compared with the legend Maradona. He started his club career with FC Barcelona in 2004. He is given the Spanish citizenship in 2005. He showed his skill in the Fifa U-20 world cup in 2005 where Argentina won the cup by his tremendous performance. He has already won the title for Spanish league for twice and UEFA champions league within his two years of club career with FC Barcelona. He also played in the world cup 2006 and showed some of his magic in his appearances.


Roberto Ayala

This Argentine Central Back plays in the Spanish club Valencia. Ayala joined in the club in 2000. He won Spanish league for twice and UEFA champions league. He won the Olympic Games trophy in 2004 with Argentina. He also played in the world cup 1999 and 2006. He was born in Parana on 14 April 1973. He has been the first choice for the palce Central Back position in both of his club and Argentian.


Ronaldinho

The present Fifa World Footballer of the year, Ronaldinho has been a legend in the

history of the football according to many football analysts. He won this Fifa World Footballer of the Year for twice. He is now playing for FC Barcelona and after joining to this club in 2003 he led the club to win UEFA Champions league and two consecutive Spanish leagues. Hi debut match was against Venezuela in 1999 Copa America tournament. He was one of the 3’R’ of Brazil 2002 world cup team and he led to the win against England in the quarterfinal with his goal through his trademark and famous free kick. He won 2002 world cup with Brazil. He also won Confederations cup and Copa America for twice. He also played in the world cup 2006 but he could not show any of his magic in the tournament.


Javier Saviola

Javier Saviola has experience of more than 8 years of professional football. He played well in World Cup 2006 for Argentina and in Spanish league he is now playing for FC Barcelona. Saviola is only 24 years old and his best is yet to come. He is famous for his speed. Last season, he was on loan at FC Sevilla and he performed very well. If he gets opportunity he will shine this season. He is a very good striker.


Samuel Eto

Samuel Eto is perhaps the best African player of our time. He was honored as the best African player for the last 3 successive years- a feat no other African player has achieved until now. He plays for FC Barcelona. He is from Cameron. He is highly skilled in scoring goals and he took just 67 matches to score 50 goals for Barcelona! Wow.


Rafael Marquez

Rafael Marquez is from Mexico. He is 27 years old and 6 feet tall. He plays for FC Barcelona. Rafael Marquez played an important part in helping Barcelona to win the Spanish Championship in 2005. He is an influential player in the Barcelona team and perhaps the most important player for Mexico now.
