William Gallas would move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer

It is not sure what is going to be the next club for former Arsenal defender, William Gallas, who is now free agent. Some clubs including Arsenal’s fierce rival Tottenham Hotspur are interested to contract with this experienced player, but Gallas’ multi-year deal could see Tottenham lose interest about him.

With a desire for a two-year contract, William Gallas is hoping to secure his move to Tottenham. Harry Redknapp is interested to sign with him with the hope of making defense stronger. His inclusion can give the team release concern over the fitness of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate.

Like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur is ready to offer Gallas a one-year deal following his huge wags and signing-on fee that he would command.

Two other clubs Fenerbache and Paris Saint Germain are also fighting between them to get him. They are also ready to grant Gallas’s two year deal.

Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger is interested to give him one-year contract to stay with Arsenal. William Gallas is now suffering from uncertainty about his club future. It seems that this veteran player cannot extend his sporting career more than two years.

Fans are interested to know what will be his next football club this summer.

Transfer Rumors January 2009: William Gallas Attracts AC Milan and Juventus Interest

(This entry was originally posted in this blog on December 10, 2008 and the information is based on that time.)

Former Arsenal captain William Gallas now seems to have attracted attention of two Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus who are keen to sing him in the upcoming January transfer window. Arsenal defender William Gallas was recently stripped of Arsenal captaincy following his comment on dressing room rift in Arsenal in the media which caused an outburst among the Arsenal fans and manager Arsene Wenger took away the captain’s armband from Gallas and handed it to the young Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Ever since William Gallas lost the captaincy, flurry of rumors concerning his future at Arsenal started to come in the media.

AC Milan first showed interest in Gallas as they are desperate to sign a defender in January transfer window because Milan is currently missing their star defender Alessandro Nesta due to his injury and Captain Paolo Maldini is also retiring at the end of this season. So, this is pretty much clear that the club is seriously tracking the French defender at this moment.

Recently, Juventus also showed their interest in the 31-year-old William Gallas. Alessio Secco, director of sport at Juventus, recently came to London and met Ivan Gazidis, the new chief executive of Arsenal, to start a negotiation for the defender. Tuttosport, a Turin based newspaper, reported that Juventus is ready to make a €8 million bid for William Gallas. Now, let us see who wins the race, AC Milan or Juventus?

Manager Arsene Wenger: I Want William Gallas to Stay at Arsenal

(This entry was originally posted in this blog on December 6, 2008 and the information is based on that time.)

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has recently said that he wants William Gallas stay at Arsenal, despite reports out in the media suggesting that Gallas might make a move to Italian club AC Milan and French side Paris Saint-Germain. The centre back was recently stripped of as Arsenal captain following his comment on Arsenal’s dressing room problem in the media. Arsenal’s captaincy was handed over to Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Since then there are rumors out in the media suggesting Gallas might leave Arsenal in January transfer window.

Goal.com reported:

“My desire is clear - I want him to stay, of course,” Wenger asserted.
“The problem in the modern game is that you always have to fight against an environment which attempts to destabilise you just by creating news.
“I cannot fight against that, I can only give what we want inside the club: we want to keep William with us. He is an important player in the squad and what other people try to provoke, or try to put out in the media, we cannot master.
“It does not change my mind and, in the end, I will decide.”

Well, I also think that Arsenal needs William Gallas very much in its squad as the French defender brings lots of experience with him. Arsenal has a young squad where an experienced defender like Gallas is badly needed. Moreover, Gallas can also win much more accolades and applauds staying with Arsenal. The Gunners have a very talented young side and once some of their young players come of age, Arsenal might start winning titles and silverware. So, I think, William Gallas should stay at Arsenal and I think, Wenger has also done the right thing by claiming that he wants Gallas to stay at Arsenal.
