T-Mobile USA has revealed the pricing policy of LG G-Slate tablet PC. The device from LG is now available from T-Mobile for $529 after a $100 mail-in rebate on a two-year contract for data usage. LG G-Slate is the first 4G tablet PC from T-Mobile- meaning users will have access to the carrier’s 4G HSPA+ mobile broadband network, besides Wi-Fi connectivity.

LG G-Slate comes up with some attractive features including a 8.9-inch HD display with the capability of playing 3D content on the tablet thanks to its 3D display. Moreover, the device can capture 3D 1080p video via its dual rear-facing 5-megapixel cameras. It also has a front-facing camera facilitating video calls.

Well, it is true that the LG tablet PC has some very good features, but T-Mobile pricing seems to be little bit high- especially when you are bound to pay $20 per month for using data for 2 years.

A number of tablet PCs will arrive in the market in the coming months with lots of new features and functionalities. So, you may not like to be contracted with a particular carrier for a particular model for 24 months, even though LG G-Slate is a device worth to own.

iPhone will come to T-Mobile subscribers after one year

Just because AT&T will acquire T-Mobile does not mean that the network’s subscribers will be able to get their hands on the iPhone. News reports revealed that T-Mobile subscribers will have to wait another one year to get their hands on Apple iPhone.

So what is the reason? Well, AT&T will have to get federal approval first. On March 20, 2011, news of AT&T acquiring T-Mobile for $39 billion in the cash-and-stock deal came up. With this acquisition, AT&T would become the largest network carrier in the U.S in terms of subscriber base.

After the news came out, one of the T-Mobile subscribers asked if they would get the iPhone which is currently available on AT&T and Verizon. The answer goes like this:

"T-Mobile USA remains an independent company,……The acquisition is expected to be completed in approximately 12 months. We do not offer the iPhone. We offer cutting edge devices like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G and coming soon our new Sidekick 4G."

Another major reason for the iPhone launch delay for T-Mobile subscribers is that

T-Mobile has a different wireless network that is not compatible with the 3G radio of AT&T’s GSM network.

AT&T will acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion

On March 20, 2011, AT&T said that it will acquire T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom in cash-and-stock for $39 billion. This acquisition will turn AT&T into the largest network operator in the U.S. Sprint Nextel, the third largest carrier in the U.S. also wanted to acquire the operator.

Under the agreement, AT&T will pay $25 billion in cash and sale 8 percent stake equity stake in the company to Deutesche Telekom, the largest network operator in Germany.

The deal will make AT&T even bigger than Verizon Wireless in the U.S. with a subscriber base of 129 million.

Till 2011, AT&T remained the exclusive iPhone carrier but iPhone users had been very unhappy with its service. iPhone users of New York frequently experienced dropped calls or lower Internet speed. In a 2010, Consumer Report survey, AT&T came up as the worst carrier in the country.

Samsung Sidekick 4G from T-Mobile may have 21 Mbps Download Speed

Well, we are confused whether Samsung or T-Mobile is getting more brand visibility with Sidekick 4G smartphone. The handset is yet to be launched in the market. According to a blog post of T-Mobile, Sidekick 4G will have many exciting features.
I got excited with this feature- Sidekick 4G is capable of delivering theoretical peak download speeds up to 21 Mbps.
21 Mbps is cool but I wonder whether you will get this kind of speed in real life on a regular basis. Still, there is no doubt that T-Mobile is taking the matter of speed very seriously.
If download speed is something that you need then you are in luck in 2011. We have already seen HTC Thunderbolt to be available from today. T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is expected to come to the market in the next few weeks.
By the way, Sidekick 4G runs on Android OS. I wonder when we are going to have Honeycomb based smartphones.
